Melty Cheesy Tofu Burgers

You can make delicious burgers even without using any meat. Easy and light too. Would you like try try these cheesy tofu burgers that are full of nutrition and gentle on your body?

Ingredients: 5 pieces

Tofu
1 clock
Shiso leaves
10 leaves
Mozzarella cheese
80g
Canned tuna
1 can
Sesame seeds
4 tablespoons
Panko
1 to 2 cups (200-400 ml)
Soy sauce
5 tablespoons
Butter
10g
Lemon
1/2
Salt and pepper
a pinch of each
Cooking oil
as needed

Steps

1. Cut up the tofu and drain away the excess water.
2. Finely julienne the shiso leaves, and put into a medium sized bowl.
3. Cut the mozzarella cheese into 1 cm cubes, and put into the bowl with the shiso leaves.
4. Add the drained tofu, canned tuna and sesame seeds to the bowl, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
5. Mix the contents of the bowl together well with your hands, and adjust the texture by adding panko. The amount you put in depends on how well you drained the tofu; just add enough to be able to form the mixture into patties.
6. Spread a little oil around the bottom of a frying pan, and warm up over medium heat. In the meantime, divide the mixture from Step 5 into 5 equal portions and form into round patties. When the frying pan is hot put in the tofu burgers and fry until golden brown on both sides.
7. When the tofu burgers are done, remove from the pan and add the soy sauce. When it's boiling turn off the heat and add lemon juice. Add the butter and mix until the butter is melted.
8. When the butter has completely melted the sauce is done. Pour over the burgers, and eat while piping hot!

Story Behind this Recipe

It's been 6 years since I stopped eating meat. Most of my protein intake comes from tofu. Tofu can be eaten in many different ways, and you can even make pseudo-hamburgers with tofu.
