Great with Rice! Kabayaki-style Tofu

Salty-sweet tofu goes perfectly with rice and makes for a healthy dish.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Firm tofu
1 block
as needed
Vegetable oil
1 tablespoon
Sesame seeds
as desired
●Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
1 and 1/2 tablespoons
1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon
●Ginger juice
1 teaspoon

1. : Thoroughly drain the tofu. Slice the tofu into smaller more edible pieces and marinate them for 20-30 minutes in a mixture of the ingredients marked with ●
2. : Take out the tofu and drain away the juice. Then dust with katakuriko (*Save the marinade).
3. : Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan and brown both sides of the tofu on low-medium heat.
4. : Add the marinade that you saved beforehand and reduce well while mixing it with the tofu thoroughly (*The heat will help the marinade to reduce down quickly, so be careful not to reduce it down too much).
5. : Add some sesame seeds to finish and serve on a plate with grated ginger or green onions. Spinkle on some Japanese sansho pepper too if you'd like.
