Macrobiotic Gateaux aux Chocolat

Chocolate gateaux that doesn't use eggs, white sugar, or dairy products. Fluffy, moist, and subtly sweet I can't get enough of that simple, delicious taste. Recommended for those with allergies or for those concerned about their health.


☆ Whole wheat flour
30 g
☆ Cake flour
70 g
☆ Cocoa
30 g
☆ Corn starch
25 g
☆ Salt
a pinch
☆ Baking powder
1 tablespoon
★ Water
60 ml
★ Oil
50 ml
★ Maple syrup
50 ml


1. Mix together the ☆ and ★ ingredients separately. Once they've been mixed well, add the ★ mixture to the ☆ mixture and gently combine.
2. Grease a cake tin with a thin layer of oil and pour in the mixture from Step 1. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Once the 25 minutes is up, turn off the oven and leave the cake sit in the oven for another 10 minutes. Then remove the cake from the oven.

Story Behind this Recipe

I made this for myself and my daughter, as we both suffer from allergies. Boxed cake mixes often contain eggs or dairy products, so I don't want to use them. This is something we can eat with peace of mind. The only thing to worry about is eating too much.
