Bring eggs to room temperature. Combine the cake flour, almond flour, matcha, and baking powder and sift. Microwave the butter (roughly 1 minute) to melt.
Beat in the eggs. Add granulated sugar and honey. Whisk well.
Sift in the dry ingredients and stir until it's not floury. Add the melted butter in small batches and whisk.
Pour the mixture into a square tin lined with parchment paper. Smooth out the surface and top with candied black beans. Bake in 170°C (338°F) for 20 minutes.
Remove from pan when it's slightly cooled down. Chop into desired sizes.
Story Behind this Recipe
I had some black beans that were sitting in the fridge, so I used them to decorate matcha dough and baked into a cake.
This simple recipe is all about whisking everything together. I used store bought candied black beans. Please decorate with them as you like. Also use candied chestnuts or amanatto (sweetened aduki beans) If you don't have a square pan, you could also bake in aluminum foil cups!
