Pan-Fried Cheese Hanpen and Lotus Root with Seaweed

Perfect as a drinking appetizer! Fluffy and crunchy. An unique texture!

Ingredients: 10 pieces

1 large (120 g)
Lotus root
10 slices (5 mm thick round slices)
Pizza cheese
30 g
White flour
1 tablespoon
Flavored nori seaweed
5 sheets


1. Place the lotus root onto a plate, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for 3 minutes.
2. Put the roughly chopped hanpen and egg into a food processor, and stop when just blended.
3. Combine the hanpen mixture from Step 2, cheese, and flour in a bowl.
4. Divide Step 3 into 10 portions. Spoon the lotus root mixture on top, and wrap with nori seaweed cut into half lengthwise.
5. Heat oil in a pan, and add the portions from Step 4. Pan-fry for about 10 minutes at low heat. Flip occasionally.
6. They are delicious without sauce, but you can eat with wasabi soy sauce if you prefer.

I saw lotus roots with minced fish at the oden section at a supermarket. I modified it and created this recipe.
