Squid Tonpei Yaki - Pan-fried Squid Fritters

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Delicious crunchy squid legs in fragrant sesame oil that is so easy! Give it a try when you need just one more dish to make your meal complete.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Squid legs
200 g
Eggs
2
Katakuriko
enough for coating
Pure sesame oil
3-4 tablespoons
Green onions
lots!
Salt and pepper
a pinch
Okonomiyaki sauce
to taste
Mayonnaise
to taste

Steps

1. Cut the squid into bite size pieces and sprinkle salt and pepper. Put in a plastic bag and coat with katakuriko.
2. Heat sesame oil in a frying pan. Add the squid and fry until crispy. When it is cooked through, add eggs and green onions. Stir gently. It tastes better if the egg is a little runny.
3. Transfer to a serving plate and squirt Okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise in a crisscross pattern. That's all there is to it.

Story Behind this Recipe

This was my ex's specialty back when we were living together. lol. It was so good I decided to recreate it and I still eat it all the time. I didn't know what it was called so I went with "Tonpei Yaki."
