Tea Eggs (Eggs Boiled in Tea Leaves)

I used Star Anice and Chinese 5-spice powder, and every time it turns out slightly different. Season with salt. Serve with beer!

Ingredients: 10 servings

Black tea
1 teabag
★Star anise
★Chinese 5-spice powder
1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon
2 tablespoons
★Soy sauce
3 tablespoons


1. Boil the eggs.
2. Crack the egg shells a little.
3. Boil just enough water to submerge the eggs and simmer the tea gently.
4. While doing Step 3, add in the cracked eggs, the ★ ingredients and the other seasonings and simmer for about 40 minutes to 1 hour. (The picture shows the black tea, star anise and Chinese 5-star powder).
5. Leave it in the pot overnight as is.
