Deco-Nabe with Daikon Radish Sheep

Deco-Nabe with Daikon Radish Sheep

2015 was the year of the sheep, so this hot pot was perfect to celebrate new years'! The fluffy appearance of the daikon radish is perfect for recreating the fleece on sheep.

Grated daikon radish
to taste
King oyster mushroom
Nori seaweed
a little
The sheep in the photo required 2/3 of a daikon.

1. Gently squeeze the excess liquid out of the grated daikon. Portion out the daikon into sections for the body, head, and face. The portion for the face should be the smallest. Mix a little bit of soy sauce in this portion to color the daikon a light brown.
2. Shape the portion for the body into a fluffy ball and position on top of the other nabe ingredients.
3. Place the little ball for the face on top the body from Step 2.
4. Place the fleece for the head around the face from Step 3.
5. Shape small bits of the oyster mushroom into the ears, and stick them on.
6. Prepare the facial features out of cut nori seaweed.
