Easy Tofu Hamburger Steak with Fragrant Sesame Oil

Easy Tofu Hamburger Steak with Fragrant Sesame Oil

How would you like to try a tofu hamburger steak like this once in a while? The aroma of sesame oil is irresistible. It's basically made out of meat and tofu, and no eggs.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Firm tofu
1 block (400 g)
Ground meat
Approximately 250 g
Japanese scallions (green onions) or welsh onions
2/3 stalk finely chopped
Garlic, ginger
1 teaspoon each, finely chopped or grated
Ground sesame seeds
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Sesame oil
1 tablespoon
Salt and pepper

1. Add all ingredients in a bowl, mix into gruel, and shape to your preference.
2. Heat the frying pan, and cook in medium to high heat with a little sesame oil (not listed in the ingredients). Cook both sides thoroughly while extracting water from the steak, and you are finished.
3. Instead of pouring sauce over the entire steak, have a few sauces in separate plates and enjoy each bite with a different sauce. I personally prefer and recommend soy sauce with mustard and vinegar, or soy sauce with shichimi spice and vinegar. You can also try other sauces such as ponzu or soy sauce with lemon.

Story Behind this Recipe

It's my mother's recipe that has been a favorite in our family since when I was living at home. Now it is something I make everytime I visit home. The plate's emptied instantly even if I make double the amount.
