Shallow-Fried Tofu in Sauce

Shallow-Fried Tofu in Sauce

This recipe for fried tofu in sauce uses shallow-fried tofu.
When you need just one more dish for a meal, this one will help you out.

Silken tofu
200 g
as needed
Japanese leek
to taste
2 teaspoons
Soy sauce
a little less than 2 tablespoons
1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon plus (as much as you want)

1. Wrap the tofu in a paper towel and place it on a plate to drain the excess moisture.
2. Make the sauce.
3. Coat the tofu in katakuriko.
4. Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and pan-fry the larger surface of the tofu.
5. Flip them over and continue frying.
6. Fry the sides as well (the oil will splatter, so be careful).
7. Wipe off the excess oil with a paper towel. Pour the sauce over the tofu, and bring it to a boil as you baste the tofu.
8. Remove the tofu and let the sauce simmer.
9. Top the tofu with the leek and then cover with the sauce.
