Jerk Chicken

Jerk Chicken

You can easily make an authentic American-style jerk chicken!

Cook with beer or soft drink.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Chicken thighs (or breasts)
2 fillets
Olive oil
as needed
100 ml
Maple sauce
2 tablespoons
as needed
a. Cajun spice
2 tablespoons
a. Jerk chicken spice
2 tablespoons
a. Allspice
as needed
a. Mixed herbs (dry)
as needed
a. Garlic powder
2 teaspoons
a. Paprika
2 teaspoons
a. Cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon
a. Cumin
2 pinches
a. Rosemary
2 pinches
a. Salt and pepper
as needed

1. Make cuts on the thick parts of the chicken using a knife. This helps it cook evenly.
2. Arrange the chicken on a tray or a plate, and wipe off the excess water with paper towels. Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spread the olive oil and maple sauce on top, and let it sit.
3. Mix all the "a" spices in a bowl.
4. You can easily find cajun spice or jerk chicken spice at a store!
5. Coat both sides of the chicken with the mixed "a" spices, and let it sit for about 1 hour.
6. Tip #1: My favourite is the root beer in the middle in the picture. It has an unique flavour. You can use normal coke as well.
7. Pour the coke over the Step 4 marinated chicken, and let it sit for at least 3 hours in the fridge. It tastes better if you marinate it for a day!
8. Bring the chicken to room temperature 1 hour before cooking. If you don't do that, it won't cook evenly.
9. Arrange the chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment sheet, and put in the oven. Bake for about 17-25 minutes at 240℃.
10. When the oil come out instead of liquid onto the paper, it's ready. Move the chicken around occasionally, and let the excess water evaporate.
11. Serve with your desired vegetables, and done!

Story Behind this Recipe

It was my favourite menu when I was young while living in Texas!
This dish is good for BBQ as well, so please give it a try!
