California Rolls with Cured Ham

California Rolls with Cured Ham

Wrap a California roll with cured ham for a gorgeous spin. It's a Western-style sushi dish recommended for parties.

Ingredients: 1 roll

Sushi Rice
150 g
Nori (dried seaweed sheet)
1 entire sheet
Imitation crab sticks
3 short sticks
Salmon (for sashimi)
1 block (1 × 20 cm)
Chicken nuggets
2 pieces
Daikon radish sprouts
a small amount
a small amount
Cured ham
50 g

1. Cut and prepare the ingredients.
2. Spread 150 g of sushi rice evenly onto the sheet of dried seaweed.
3. Place the cured ham over Step 2.
4. Place a plastic wrap on top of Step 3 and flip it over. Have the seaweed side facing up.
5. Spread mayonnaise on the lower half of the nori. Place daikon radish sprouts, cucumbers, salmon, chicken nuggets, imitation crab, and avocado on top of the mayonnaise.
6. Roll with a sushi mat. Start at the edge closet to you. (Be careful not to wrap the plastic wrap inside together.)
7. After you've rolled it once, use the sushi mat again to tightly shape the roll.
8. Cut into 6 pieces. Leave the plastic wrap on the roll while cutting and remove the wrap just before serving.

Story Behind this Recipe

My usual California roll has flying fish roe or white sesame seeds on the outer side, but by my daughter's request I've made this one using cured ham.
