Easy Extravagant Seafood Don

You can make an easy yet luxurious seafood don (rice bowl) using sashimi (offcuts) of your choice. Add sudachi or lemon juice for a refreshing flavor.

Ingredients: 1 serving

Tuna, salmon, squid, any sashimi
1 pack
Hot cooked rice
1 large bowl's worth
Sushi vinegar
a bit less than 1 teaspoon
Sudachi (or lemon)
to taste
Cucumber, shiso leaves, etc.
a small amount
Tamagoyaki (optional)
1 slice
to taste
Sushi ginger (optional)
to taste
White sesame seeds
to taste
Shredded nori seaweed
to taste


1. Add the sushi vinegar and sudachi juice to one large rice bowl's worth of rice. Mix to make the sushi rice.
2. Put the sushi rice in a bowl. Add the sesame seeds and finely shredded nori seaweed on top (optional).
3. Put tuna, salmon, squid or other sashimi slices on top of the rice.

Story Behind this Recipe

Assorted sashimi packs were on sale at the supermarket, so I made my favorite seafood don. Make this when your favorite sashimi is available.
I used store-bought sushi vinegar to keep it simple. Sushi vinegar on its own is sweet, so I added sudachi juice for a refreshing flavor. Lemon juice is delicious too.
