Oatmeal Cookies

Simple and aromatic cookies with chocolate chips and walnuts.

Ingredients: 15 cookies

Unsalted butter
100 g
Cake flour
120 g
70 g
Soft brown sugar
70 g
Chocolate chips
50 g
50 g


1. Sift the flour and beat the egg. Roughly break up the walnuts by hand. Spread them out on a heatproof plate, wrap, dry roast in the microwave for 3 minutes, then let them cool down.
2. Bring the butter to room temperature and whisk in the sugar until it turns white. Mix in the egg in batches.
3. Add the flour, oatmeal, chocolate chips and walnuts in that order, mixing with a rubber spatula with each addition.
4. Line a baking tray with parchment paper, and use two spoons to drop mounds of dough onto the tray. Bake for 20 minutes at 170℃. They are done when nicely browned.

Story Behind this Recipe

When I first uploaded this recipe I forgot to add cake flour, so I re-wrote it in May, 2012. I also adjusted the amounts of other ingredients and added some small hints.
