Chocolate Banana Scones Made Completely in a Plastic Bag!
These scones are packed full of chocolate and are so delicious, plus you can enjoy a gentle banana fragrance! You do all the processes of making and shaping the dough in a plastic bag, so your hands won't get messy!
Break up the chocolate bar in a wrapper along the lines between the squares and break each square into 2~3 pieces. Mash the banana in a plastic bag.
Add the vegetable oil and mix in. Add the pancake mix and knead well to mix altogether.
(Preheat the oven to 180°C.)
Add the chocolate from Step 1 and mix in. Flatten the dough to about 2 cm thick.
Cut the dough into 8 equal pieces with a knife over the plastic bag, pressing the entire knife blade slowly into it. You will feel good hearing the cracking sound of the chocolate when you cut.
Tear the plastic bag and transfer the dough onto a baking tray that is lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20 minutes at 180°C. Cover with aluminum foil if they are browned midway through.
Story Behind this Recipe
I always end up buying bananas, but I often find it hard to eat them up. So I came up with this recipe to save those unwanted bananas. I wanted to make a super simple recipe as I don't like things which take time and effort! I made these scones for tomorrow's breakfast, but my children are already fighting over them!! I guess I should bake them again….
They will have a better fragrance and be tastier if you use a ripe banana with dark skin. I used 2 small bananas, but if you like a firmer texture, reduce the amount of banana you use!
