German Christmas Cookies: Butter Plaetzchen

I learned this recipe from my neighbour who's an excellent cook! These cookies are the best Christmas cookies I've ever had! Since she bakes them many times every Christmas, she has memorized the recipe.

Ingredients

Butter
375 g
Sugar
190 g
Egg yolks
5
Cake flour
500 g
Cinnamon
1 scant teaspoon
☆Egg yolk
1
☆Milk
30 ml

Steps

1. Bring the butter to room temperature or microwave on low to soften. Add the ingredients in the listed order while mixing.
2. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until 2-3 mm thick while dusting with flour. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place on a baking sheet.
3. Mix the ☆ ingredients and brush on each cookie with a brush or a spoon.
4. Bake in the preheated oven at 170℃ / 340℉ (Umluft 150℃) until nicely browned.
