Everyone's Favorite Chicken Teriyaki Honey Oyster Sauce

Everyone's Favorite Chicken Teriyaki Honey Oyster Sauce

This teriyaki chicken is perfect for bento lunch boxes since it stays nice and moist even after it cools down. It's delicious with mayonnaise and lettuce. It's one of my husband's favorite dishes.

Ingredients: 1 serving

Chicken thigh
1 (about 250 g)
Salt and pepper
a small amount
★Sake, soy sauce, honey
1.5 tablespoons each
★Oyster sauce
2 teaspoons
★Garlic (tubed)
1 to 2 cm
Black pepper
a pinch

1. Cut the excess fat off of the chicken thigh, and make incisions into the thicker parts of the meat. Season lightly with salt and black pepper on both sides.
2. Mix sake, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce and garlic together.
3. Oil and heat the pan well, then lower the heat to a medium heat and grill the chicken skin-side down (about 2 1/2~3 minutes). When the skin has turned golden, flip the chicken.
4. Turn the heat off after two minutes, and pat off excess oil with a paper towel.
5. Pour in the sauce mix, put the lid on and steam-grill over a low heat for 5~6 minutes. (Baste the chicken once in a while by spooning on some of the sauce)
6. Take the lid off, turn the heat up to medium and simmer down the sauce. Sprinkle on some black pepper.
7. Take the chicken out onto a cutting board. Slice the chicken into easy-to-eat sizes and plate them. Pour on all of the sauce left on the pan, and it's ready to be served.
8. Garnish with mayonnaise and lettuce as you like.
9. Perfect for bento!

Story Behind this Recipe

I always make dishes using chicken breast, but I decided to use thighs today.
I love the combination of honey and oyster sauce, so I use it in many dishes.
