Delicious Sweet and Sour Pork

This is my prized smooth sweet and sour sauce!

Ingredients: 2-3 servings

Pork (breast, roast, belly, thin-cuts, etc. Anything is okay! You can use chicken, too.)
300 g
*Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
*Sake
1 tablespoon
*Sesame oil
1 teaspoon
Katakuriko
as needed
Carrot
1/2
Onion
1/2
Green peppers
2
For the sweet and sour sauce
Vinegar
3 tablespoons
Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
Sugar
3 tablespoons
Ketchup
2 tablespoons
Sake
2 tablespoons
Mirin
1 tablespoon
Water
4 tablespoons
Katakuriko
1 tablespoon

Steps

1. Cut the meat into bite-sized pieces. Season in the * ingredients and let sit for about 10 minutes.
2. Roughly chop the carrots, cut the onions into wedges, and cut the green peppers into bite-sized pieces. Put into a heatproof bowl and microwave for about 3 minutes.
3. Combine the sauce ingredients into a bowl and mix well.
4. Put the seasoned meat into a plastic bag with the katakuriko and shake to coat.
5. Cook in a fryer at 170°C or in a frying pan full of oil.
6. Put the sweet and sour sauce and all the meat and vegetables into a cool frying pan. Turn on the heat and cook on medium heat while lightly mixing until the sauce has thickened.
7. It will take about 2-3 minutes for the sauce to thicken.

Story Behind this Recipe

I've come across many recipes where the vinegar taste was too strong or it was too sweet. So, I experimented a bit to get just the right balance of sweet and sour!
