Hawaiian Octopus Poke

Hawaiian Octopus Poke

This flavor reminds me of Hawaii. The fish sauce, garlic and lemon juice, plus lots of aromatic vegetables will stimulate your appetite.

Ingredients: 2 to 3 servings

Boiled octopus
200 g
Green onions
to taste
White sesame seeds
to taste
Lemon juice
1 tablespoon
Fish sauce (or soy sauce)
1/2 tablespoon
Grated garlic
1/2 clove
Sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon

1. Pit the avocado, peel and dice. Put the diced avocado into a bowl and mix with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to prevent discoloring.
2. Cut the 1/4 onion in half, and slice thinly along the grain. If you don't like the harshness, soak the sliced onion in water.
3. Cut up the octopus (whatever size you like). Put in a bowl and mix with the fish sauce and garlic.
4. Cut the tomato up roughly, and chop a generous amount of green onions. The octopus will have absorbed a lot of flavor by this time.
5. Put the avocado, onion, tomato, green onions, sesame oil and white sesame seeds in a bowl and mix. Taste, and adjust the seasoning if needed.
6. Chill in the refrigerator. Once it's plated, you'll feel like you're in Hawaii.

Story Behind this Recipe

I wanted to make ahi poke to reminisce on my trip to Hawaii. But I couldn't get good tuna, so I decided to make octopus poke instead.
