Quick and Easy Stir-Fried and Simmered Satsuma-age

Quick and Easy Stir-Fried and Simmered Satsuma-age

Goes well with rice. The flavour is based on my mom's kinpira (stir-fried and simmered burdock root) recipe.

Ingredients: 2 ~ 3 servings

Satsuma-age
250 g
☆Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
☆Sake
1 tablespoon
☆Mirin
1 tablespoon
☆Sugar
2 tablespoons
Sesame oil
2 ~ 3 tablespoons
Red chili pepper
to taste

Steps

1. Cut the satsuma-age into 5 mm slices. Combine ☆ ingredients in a bowl. Remove seeds from red chili pepper, and cut into small slices.
2. Heat sesame oil in a pan, add the satsuma-age, and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes. Add ☆ and red chili pepper, and continue stir-frying. When the excess liquid is evaporated, serve on a plate.

Story Behind this Recipe

When I received satsuma-age fishcakes as a gift, I tried cooking kinpira (stir-fried and simmered) satsuma-age and it was delicious. After that, I sometimes cook this dish. The flavor is based on my mom's kinpira.
