Ham Steak with Orange Butter

Ham Steak with Orange Butter

I made this with thick ham steaks that were on sale at the supermarket.

Ingredients: 2 slices

Ham (for steak)
2 slices
Olive oil
a little
Garlic (finely chopped)
a little
Black pepper
to taste
20 g
☆ Orange juice (100%)
100 ml
☆ Maple syrup (or honey)
1 teaspoon
☆Consommé bouillon cubes
1/2 teaspoon
☆ Whole-grain mustard
1 teaspoon
※ Katakuriko slurry
1 teaspoon

1. Fry both sides of the ham steaks in olive oil and garlic. Sprinkle on black pepper and plate. Cook the ham to your desired degree of doneness.
2. Add butter to the same frying pan. When it's melted, add ingredients marked ☆ and lightly simmer while shaking the pan.
3. Add katakuriko, and when it has thickened, pour it over the ham. Done!
4. Sprinkle on parsley if you have it.

Story Behind this Recipe

Thick ham steaks were cheap, and when I saw them I got the urge to eat them! They were 40% off, plus I had orange juice in my fridge....
