Simple Prep! Sukiyaki-style Beef and Tofu

Instead of using a premade mix, you can easily make a homemade version. Sukiyaki-style beef and tofu. The sweet and spicy soy-sauce-flavored ground beef sauce goes very well on rice.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Firm tofu
2 blocks
Ground pork (or mixture with beef)
150 g
Japanese leek
2 stalks
Snow peas (for garnishing)
As needed
Soy sauce
100 ml
100 ml
200 ml
100 ml
20 to 30 g
A pinch
Umami seasoning (optional)
A pinch
Katakuriko, dissolved in water
As needed


1. First, mix together the seasonings to prepare the sukiyaki sauce.
2. Sautè the beef until brown, stir in the chopped leek, add the prepared sukiyaki sauce, and when it boils, add the tofu.
3. Once the tofu cooks, add the katakuriko slurry, then it's ready to serve! The thicker the sauce, the better it is to coat the ground beef.
4. I added more tofu to leftovers. Letting the dish sit for a while allows the tofu to absorb the sauce, and this makes it even tastier.
