If using beef, lightly sprinkle with sugar and brown in a frying pan. Then add sake and soy sauce, and continue frying until cooked through.
If using pork, sprinkle with salt and pepper and leave to rest for a bit. Mince some garlic and fry over low heat. Add the pork and when cooked, add some soy sauce to season.
In order from top to bottom: Cheese, shiso leaves, and salmon.
Story Behind this Recipe
In my house, if we're looking for something that's fun to make, easy, and delicious, we always opt for hand-rolled sushi. I usually prepare plenty of meat for my meat-loving husband, along with my kid's favorite fillings. It's so simple.
There's no need to be too precise with the seasonings for the meat. Aside from what's listed, ingredients such as kimchi, sesame sauce, Japanese omelet, wiener sausages, and more make appearances at our table. All of them are so easy to prepare.
