Cube your tofu into your desired size, and microwave at around 600 W for 40 seconds or so without any cling wrap or covering.
Combine the ingredients marked with ★ and pour into the bowl with your cubed tofu. Lightly place a sheet of cling wrap over the bowl, and heat in a microwave for 1.5 minutes.
Remove from the microwave, and start pouring the water-dissolved katakuriko into the bowl of tofu and sauce. Stir gently in circular motions, until the sauce has thickened into the consistency of your preference.

I watching tv when an ad for mapo tofu came on... Suddenly, I was attacked by this intense craving for mapo tofu, but I only had tofu in my fridge. That's when I came up with this recipe.
The concentration of the mentsuyu varies by the make, so be careful to adjust the amount with tastings.
