Pan-Fried Pork Loin with Mustard and Shiso

This grainy mustard sauce goes surprisingly well with rice. The shiso adds a nice accent and an extra dimension to this delicious dish.

Ingredients: 3-4 servings

Thinly sliced pork loin
10 slices
●Grainy mustard
1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon
●Soy sauce
2 teaspoons
2 teaspoons
1 tablespoon
●Garlic powder
a small amount
Shiso leaves
as needed
Vegetable oil
as needed


1. Combine the ● ingredients. Heat a thin layer of oil in the frying pan. Add the pork and pan-fry it on high heat until browned.
2. Flip the pork over and add the combined ● ingredients. Turn down the heat to medium and simmer the sauce so that it soaks into the meat. When the meat becomes glossy, turn off the heat.
3. Arrange the pork on a dish and top with the sauce. Garnish with shiso leaves and it's complete.

Story Behind this Recipe

I had some grainy mustard left over so I thought up a recipe to use it up.
I used sweet & sour pork as a reference to make this sweet and sour dish.
