Caribbean Shrimp, Mango, and Avocado Salad

This Caribbean style salad is made with the exquisite combination of shrimp, mango, and avocado which goes so well with the dressing.


Shelled shrimp
to taste
Sweet chilli sauce
1 tablespoon
1/2 tablespoon
For the dressing:
Lime juice
1/2 lime
Paprika powder
1/2 teaspoon
Cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon
Garlic (grated)
1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon
Extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon
to taste
For the salad vegetables:
Onion (minced)
Mango (1 cm cubes)
Avocado (1 cm cubes)
For the salad greens:
Your choice of arugula, salad spinach, etc.
2 handfuls
Your choice of nuts:
Walnuts, pistachios, etc.
to taste


1. Add salt to boiling water and boil the shelled shrimp. Once boiled, drain the moisture and combine with the sweet chili sauce and vinegar.
2. To prepare the dressing, combine the dressing ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
3. Add the minced onion and the cubed mango and avocado to the dressing from Step 2. Add the shrimp from Step 1 and stir together lightly.
4. Place your choice of salad greens on a plate and top with the dressing from Step 3. It's done!! I used arugula greens in the photo.
5. Add your choice of nuts to add a nice touch.

Story Behind this Recipe

I added my own touch to this tropical salad from a recipe that I saw on a Canadian kitchen show.

The combination of the dressing and the shrimp, mango, and avocado was so nice and delicious that I decided to post the recipe.
