Homemade Yakitori Sauce

Homemade Yakitori Sauce

A restaurant-like sauce I've been using for many years It has a creamy thickness to the katakuriko, making it perfect to drizzle over yakitori.

Ingredients: 12 yakitori pieces

Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
Mentsuyu (3x concentrate)
1 1/2 tablespoons
Sugar
3 tablespoons
Mirin
3 tablespoons
Water
1 tablespoon
Katakuriko slurry
as needed

Steps

1. Add all of the ingredients, except for the katakuriko slurry to a frying pan and cook. Bring to a slight boil, until the sugar dissolves.
2. Pour in katakuriko slurry to thicken.
3. Dip both sides of your yakitori in the sauce, put on a serving plate, then spoon some of the sauce on top.
4. Here's a recipe that uses this sauce: Recipe ID: 1979988.

Story Behind this Recipe

This is an updated version of a recipe I made before (Recipe ID: 1272609).
I added the water-dissolved katakuriko so that it mixes better with the yakitori.
