Microwaved Carrot and Spinach with Sesame Mayonnaise

You can make this in just one bowl. It's a colorful dish that can be made easily in the microwave.

Ingredients: about 2 servings

4 cm
2 clusters
Salt (for cooking the vegetables)
A tiny amount
● Ground black sesame seeds
1 tablespoon
● Mayonnaise
1 scant tablespoon
● Sugar
1/2 teaspoon
● Soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon


1. Wash the carrot and spinach and cut into easy-to-eat pieces. Place in a bowl while still hot, sprinkle with a little salt and cover with plastic wrap.
2. Cook the vegetables using the "Root Vegetable Course" setting. (In our microwave, it took a bit more than 3 minutes.) When it's cooled down a bit drain off any excess water, add the ● ingredients and mix.
3. Done. Try this in a bento.

Story Behind this Recipe

I wanted to make an easy recipe to go in a bento, so I used the carrot and spinach I had in the refrigerator.
I always cook carrots without peeling them. I heard somewhere that there's a lot of nutrition in them right below the skin.
