Easy! Perfect with Rice! Sardine Kabayaki

The sardines are nicely coated in the sauce and have nice flavour! They go really well with rice! Great for dinner or as a bento side dish!

Ingredients: 4 sardines worth

4 tablespoons
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
1 tablespoon
Roasted sesame seeds, green onions, etc (optional)
a small amount


1. Open up the sardines. Remove the heads. Then remove the innards and bones with your fingers, and briefly rinse with water.
2. Combine the sugar, soy sauce, and water to make the sauce. Coat both sides of the sardines with the flour.
3. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, and pan-fry the sardines.
4. Fry until both sides are golden brown.
5. Turn off the heat, pour in the Step 2 sauce, and quickly coat the sardines with it. Please be careful not to burn the sauce.
6. Sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds and green onions if you like, then done.
