Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into 1.5 cm semi-circular shapes. Then put them in water.
Steam the sweet potatoes until soft. When you can easily pierce them with a skewer, they're done.
Mash the steamed potatoes with a masher, then strain until smooth.
Put the strained sweet potato in a pan. Turn on the heat, add the salt and the candied chestnut syrup, and stir over low heat for about 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat, add in the candied chestnuts, and mix well. Once it has chilled, it's ready.
Story Behind this Recipe
Ever since I was little, I loved my grandmother's Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Sweet Chestnuts. Somehow, I remembered how to make this by eyeballing the ingredients. I tried to remember the old flavor while making this.
Adjust the syrup and salt amounts depending on how sweet the sweet potatoes are.
