Simple & Convenient Yakitori Sauce

This is a yakitori sauce that's very easy to make. If you make a lot, you can use it for all kinds of food, so it's handy to have stocked.


Soy sauce
200 ml
150 ml
50 ml
6 tablespoons


1. Combine mirin and sake in a pot and bring to a boil. Then add the soy sauce and sugar and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes to reduce the sauce.
2. Put the sauce into a jar that has been sterilized in boiling water, and store in the refrigerator.

Story Behind this Recipe

I always used to use the sauce that's made for grilled eel as yakitori sauce, but as that's a little sweet, I changed my recipe a bit to make a sauce that goes better with yakitori.
