Two-Colored Matcha Adzuki Bean Steamed Cake made with a Hand Mixer

This recipe doesn't require sugar, but it's still chewy and delicious.

Ingredients: 15 x 15 plastic container

★Pancake mix
100 g
70 g
★Butter or margarine
5 g
Matcha or aojiru
1 tablespoon
(You can also use matcha latte mix)
as much as you need to make it the color you like
Amanatto or boiled adzuki beans
50 g (or as much as you like)

1. Add all of the ★ ingredients to a bowl (no need to drain the yogurt, but melt the butter first), then mix with an egg beater until smooth.
2. Add half of the batter to a microwave safe container, and drop it several times to flatten.
3. Let the surface dry a bit and microwave for about 40 seconds to harden. It will swell right away, so keep a close eye on it!
4. Once the surface has dried a bit, spread out the amanatto (or boiled adzuki beans) evenly.
5. Add the matcha to the remaining half of the batter, and mix well.
6. Pour in the matcha over the amanatto batter, and microwave at 500W for 3~4 minutes.
7. Poke it with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, it's done.

Story Behind this Recipe

I came up with a tri-color steamed bread recipe (Recipe ID: 2118533), but I had been wondering if I could make something enticing even without food coloring, which can make it difficult to divide the colors evenly. So I figured 2 colors would also taste good and wondered if it could work.
