Strawberry Daifuku Made with Cut Mochi

This is quick and easy. You can make it in a microwave.
This is also great for "Hinamatsuri" (Girl's Day festival).

Ingredients: 2 pieces

Strawberries
2
Red bean paste
as needed
Cut mochi
1 piece
Sugar
1 heaping teaspoon
Katakuriko
as needed

Steps

1. Wash the strawberries and remove stems, then wrap with red bean paste.
2. Put the cut mochi in a flat bowl, and add enough hot water to cover it. Microwave for about 1 minute at 600 W.
3. Keep 2 ~ 3 teaspoons of hot water, and drain the rest. Add the sugar, and mix and knead with a spoon.
4. If it's not mixing well, microwave for another 20 seconds, and mix some more. If it needs more water, add some before microwaving.
5. Divide the mochi into 2 pieces and wrap the red bean paste balls from Step 1. Roll them into balls while coating with katakuriko.
