Easy Chocolate Truffles in the Microwave

Easy Chocolate Truffles in the Microwave

This is my first attempt at making chocolate truffles!
I made these in a microwave without melting the chocolate in a bain-marie.

Ingredients: 15 bite-sized pieces, around 3 cm each

Milk chocolate
100 g
20 g
Heavy cream
50 ml
To finish
Cocoa powder (unsweetened)
as needed

1. Using a knife or your hands, chop the chocolate into 5 mm pieces. Slice the butter into 5 mm pieces. Place both in a heatproof bowl.
2. Microwave at 600 W for 1.5 minutes to melt. Use a whisk to mix well.
3. In another heatproof container, pour in the heavy cream, and microwave at 600 W for 30 seconds.
4. Add the cream from Step 3 to the bowl from Step 2, and combine well with a whisk.
5. Pour the mixture from Step 4 into chocolate molds using a spoon. Rap the tray on a flat surface several times to pop air bubbles.
6. Place Step 5 in the refrigerator and chill for about 3 hours to set. (If it isn't hardening, chill in the freezer).
7. Once your truffles have hardened, remove from the mold. Sprinkle with cocoa powder with a tea strainer.
8. If you use silicone molds, the chocolates will be easier to remove if you push them up from the bottom.
9. When storing the chocolates at home, keep them in a sealed container in the fridge.

Story Behind this Recipe

I was wondering what to make with leftover heavy cream. I'd never tried chocolate truffles, so I wanted to see if there was a hassle-free method of just using the microwave.
