Combine the rice, all seasonings, and bonito flakes in a bowl, and mix well. Divide into 4 portions.
Form into flat and round patties on plastic wrap. Wrap and squeeze slightly to shape the patties. Chill in the freezer.
Align on aluminum foil and bake in a toaster oven. Make it either thick and fluffy or crispy like toasted rice balls. It's up to you.
When that's done, sprinkle shichimi chili pepper on two patties. Sandwich kimpira stir-fry in between and enjoy.
Story Behind this Recipe
I was getting bored of buying lunch, and wanted to make something with leftover kimpira. That's when I remembered the addictive rice burgers I ate at Mos Burger (a burger chain in Japan). So, here's a way to make at home.
The rice patties shrink slightly when you form them, so keep that in mind when you spread it out on plastic wrap. If the kimpira is fairly salty, you might not need shichimi chili pepper for the patties.
