Japanese-Flavored Lean Tuna Cubed Steak

Japanese-Flavored Lean Tuna Cubed Steak

Make this Japanese flavored cubed 'steak' when you get your hands on cheap tuna! Great with rice or sake, and very tasty.

Ingredients: 2 to 3 servings

Sashimi grade lean tuna (maguro)
200 g
As needed
★ Dashi stock
4 tablespoons
★ Mirin
2 tablespoons
★ Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Grated daikon radish, grated ginger, chopped green onion etc. to taste

1. Cut the tuna into bite-sized cubes.
2. Coat evenly with flour.
3. Heat some oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the tuna cubes on all sides until crispy. Take them out of the pan.
4. Wipe out the oil in the frying pan and add the ★ seasoning ingredients. Bring to a boil, re-add the tuna cubes, coat them well with the sauce and turn off the heat.
5. Transfer to serving plates with grated daikon radish and grated ginger on the side. Sprinkle on some chopped green onion and it's done.

Story Behind this Recipe

I made this when I bought a lot of cheap maguro (lean tuna). It's a delicious dish that goes really well with plain rice. Now it's a family favorite.
