Nostalgic * Omurice

This is an omurice recipe that my mother taught me. You can make the chicken rice in the rice cooker, so it's very easy.

Ingredients: 1 serving

a pinch
1/2 teaspoon
Vegetable oil
as needed
Chicken rice
1 1/2 bowls
Tomato ketchup
as needed
Parsley (dried or fresh)
as needed


1. Make the chicken rice. Refer to Recipe ID: 1893242.
2. Beat the egg together with salt and sugar.
3. Heat a frying pan and coat with oil. Pour in the egg mixture and spread it around the pan. When it's half cooked, place the chicken rice in the centre.
4. Lift up one side of the omelette with a spatula, bring the omelette to the side of the pan and turn gently over onto the plate. Neaten the shape of the omurice with a paper towel.
5. Serve with ketchup and garnish with parsley to finish.

Story Behind this Recipe

This is the omurice that my mum always made for me. It also tastes lovely when cooked with butter instead of oil.
If you add heavy cream to the egg, it'll become rich.
