Simple Stew (No Need for Store-Bought Roux)

Simple Stew (No Need for Store-Bought Roux)

You don't need ready-made stew roux, so you can make this with any left over veggies anytime you want!

Ingredients: 2 servings

Chicken breast
1
Potatoes
3
Onion
1
Carrots (This time, I didn't use any)
1
Broccoli
as needed
Plain flour
4 to 5 tablespoons
Water
350 ml
Milk
450 ml
Soup stock cubes
2
Salt and pepper
to taste
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons

Steps

1. Stir fry the onions with butter.
2. Once browned, add in the meat, potatoes, and carrots and stir fry. This time, I didn't use carrots.
3. When everything is cooked, turn off the heat and mix in the flour.
4. Once it's mixed, then add the water and milk.
5. Once all mixed, turn the heat back on and add the soup stock.
6. When it thickens and the vegetables are cooked, add in the broccoli and season with salt and pepper and it's done!

Story Behind this Recipe

I made this because it's getting cold recently and I wanted to eat stew.
