Meat Sauce Made from Canned Tomatoes

The meat sauce we make at home had plenty of onions, which are rich in umami. I use canned tomatoes to make this.


Mixed ground beef and pork
400 g
2 cloves
☆Canned tomato
2 cans
☆Consomme soup stock cubes
1 to 2
☆Hot water
1 cup (200 ml)
1 teaspoon
1-2 teaspoons
☆Bay leaf
1 (optional)


1. Finely chop the onions and garlic.
2. Heat some vegetable oil in a deep pot. Stir fry the onions and garlic.
3. Once it's all soft, add the meat and stir fry.
4. Once the meat changes color, add in the ☆ ingredients and simmer.
5. Simmer slowly for 30 minutes.
6. Once it's cooked down a bit and the moisture has evaporated, it's done. I tend to remove the bay leaf at this point.
