Komatsuna and Chikuwa Tossed with Sesame Seeds and Mayonnaise

Komatsuna and Chikuwa Tossed with Sesame Seeds and Mayonnaise

An ultra-speedy side dish that uses a microwave for easy prep.
For that one extra side dish or as an easy bento item.

Ingredients: About 2 servings

Komatsuna
2 to 3 stalks
Chikuwa
1
● Ground white sesame seeds
1 tablespoon
● Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon
● Soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon
● Sugar
1/2 teaspoon
● Sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon

Steps

1. Chop the komatsuna into 2 cm, put in a heat resistant dish (without draining), sprinkle salt, cover in plastic wrap, then heat for 1.5 minutes 30 in the microwave at 600 W.
2. Remove the plastic wrap and chill. Cut the chikuwa into thirds, then finely slice lengthwise. Squeeze excess water from the komatsuna, then toss with the combined ● ingredients and the chikuwa.
3. It's ready to serve. Try it in your bento.

Story Behind this Recipe

I've been grappling with tasty ways to consume a large amount of komatsuna that my farmer friend gave me.
When I tried fixing a dish of it with my favorite chikuwa, sesame seeds, mayonnaise, and soy sauce, it turned out great.
