Sweet and Salty Sweet Potatoes

A great recipe for those who want to try something other than the usual sweet potato dish! You won't be able to stop eating these.

Ingredients: 3-4 servings

Sweet potato
about 350 g
2 tablespoons
Sesame seeds
1 tablespoon
◆ Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
◆ Sake
3 tablespoons
◆ Sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons
◆ Mirin
1 tablespoon


1. Peel the sweet potatoes, cut into match sticks (as you would for French fries), then soak in water for 15 minutes to remove any astringency.
2. Combine the ◆ ingredients in a pan, bring to a boil, then add the sesame seeds. Be careful not to boil for too long, or the flavor will be too strong!
3. Blot the excess water from the sweet potato sticks with a paper towel and coat in katakuriko.
4. Deep-fry the sticks in oil heated to 355F/180C for about 3 minutes until crispy, drain the excess oil, then coat in the sauce from Step 2.
