Put the chicken drumsticks, sake, salt, and ginger in a plastic bag, then rub in well. Let sit for 20 minutes. In the meantime, thinly slice the onion.
Pour a small amount of oil in a heated frying pan, and fry the chicken drumsticks from Step 1 over medium heat. When browned, add the onion, and continue stir-frying until they are soft and wilted.
Add water and consomme to Step 2, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes over low heat. Add the curry roux, butter, and ketchup, simmer for another 5-10 minutes, then it's done.
Story Behind this Recipe
My husband requested this dish so I tried it out. I managed to cook this in a short time -- it was surprisingly easy!
-Please simmer the chicken until it becomes tender. Please skim off the scum! -I use spicy curry roux for my family. If you are using sweet curry roux, add ketchup to your liking. -I recommend adding heavy cream or coffee creamer to make the taste mild.
