Let's Make Roast Beef in a Frying Pan!

My rice cooker was broken, so I made this 'roast beef' in a frying pan! You'll feel like a great chef when you make this!

Beef round chunk
1 pinch
Black pepper
Enough to coat
Garlic (tubed is ok)
2 cloves
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
Aluminium foil
3 sheets of about 30cm
Virgin olive oil
1/2 tablespoon

1. Coat the meat in salt and pepper and grated garlic, roll it up in plastic wrap and let sit for 30~60 minutes. This is basically to bring it up to room temperature.
2. Add oil to the pan, and cook all six sides until browned.
3. Add the soy sauce, sake, and water to the pan, and cook the meat slowly over a low heat on all sides for about 10 minutes.
4. Immediately wrap the cooked meat up in aluminum foil. Make sure to do a good job! Have 3 layers of foil ready.
5. Wrap it up in a towel, and let sit for 3 hours. Place it in the fridge once it has reached room temperature. The meat is easier to cut chilled.
6. If you don't cut the meat while it is chilled, then the flavoring will leak out, so be careful! Transfer the sauce from step 3 to a plate, and enjoy!
7. Oh! What a wonderful pink meat color! It's a good idea to make this the night before.

Story Behind this Recipe

My rice cooker was broken...
And my friend's family was coming the next day for an overnight visit.
Their son is a growing boy with a big appetite, so I stretched myself a bit to make this!
The aluminum foil performs the role of the rice cooker.
I basically used it to keep the meat warm!
