Candied Sweet Potatoes in 10 Minutes

This recipe is for the times you really want to eat sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes are microwaved, then coated with a sweetened syrup. It's a quick recipe! Really, really quick!

Ingredients: about 4 servings

Sweet potatoes
2 medium
75 ml
100 ml
Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
Sesame seeds
as needed


1. Wash the sweet potatoes and leave damp. Place on a plate and loosely cover with plastic wrap, then microwave for 2-3 minutes (it's fine if they're still firm at this point).
2. Combine the water and sugar in a pan, then turn on the heat. Boil down to a thick syrup, taking care not to let it burn. (When I make this, it clouds and smokes, but doesn't burn.)
3. Add the soy sauce and sesame oil, and coat the sweet potatoes in the sauce.
