Easy Ketchup Rice (for Omurice) in a Rice Cooker

If you make the ketchup rice in a rice cooker, you can have omurice (an omelet with seasoned rice) ready in no time! And you only have to wash the frying pan once, so it's really easy.

Ingredients: Serves 3

Uncooked white rice
2 rice cooker cups (360ml)
Ketchup
3 tablespoons
Soup stock cube
1
Butter
1 tablespoon
Other ingredients of your choice (weiner sausages, green peppers, etc)
as needed
Onion
1/2
Water
400 ml (reduce amount of water by around 10% if adding vegetables)

Steps

1. Put the ketchup and soup stock cube on top of the washed rice in the rice cooker.
2. Then add the onions (cut into 1 cm pieces), any other ingredients you want to add, and the butter and switch on the rice cooker! (Reduce the amount of water a bit if adding a lot of vegetables)
3. When it's done cooking, stir it and it's done!
4. If the color from the ketchup is too light, add some more ketchup to taste (this amount is not listed in the ingredients) and stir it in.
5. Cook a thin omelet in a frying pan and wrap the rice in the omelet. It's all done! This way, you only have to wash the frying pan one time; it's so easy.

Story Behind this Recipe

My daughter suddenly requested omurice! I didn't have any leftover rice, so I put all the ingredients into my rice cooker and made ketchup rice!
