Rice Ball with Curry and Cheese

Mix leftover fukijin-zuke (pickled vegetable medley) and curry powder into rice to make these rice balls.
It's spicy from the curry powder and pepper.
The combination of the sweet fukujin-zuke and cheese is delicious.

Ingredients: 1 Serving

Plain cooked rice
1 bowlful (150 g)
Curry powder
1/2 to 1 scant teaspoon
■ Fukujin-zuke (pickled vegetable medley)
1 tablespoon (10 g)
■ Cream cheese
15 g
■ Parsley (fresh or dried)
1/2 teaspoon
■ Extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon
■ Salt
A pinch
■ Black pepper
1 to 2 shakes


1. Mince the fukujin-zuke, and dice the cheese into 7mm cubes. Chop the parsley finely.
2. Sprinkle a generous amount of curry powder to the rice. Add the ■ ingredients and mix briskly. Form the rice balls.

Story Behind this Recipe

When I ate leftover fukujin-zuke over rice, it actually tasted good. That's how I came up with adding curry powder to make this onigiri.
