Non-fried Japanese-style Tonkatsu Made with Thinly Sliced Pork Belly

Just pan fry these. These cutlets with shiso leaves are healthier than the usual tonkatsu since they're not deep fried, but are still juicy. Enjoy with refreshing grated daikon radish and ponzu sauce!

Ingredients: 2 servings

Thinly sliced pork belly
about 150 g
Shiso leaves
The same number as the pork belly slices
Salt and pepper
a small amount
Water
a small amount
Panko
as needed
Daikon radish
to taste
Daikon radish sprouts
to taste
Ponzu
to taste

Steps

1. Fold the shiso leaves into the pork belly slices.
2. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Pour water into the styrofoam meat try, and wet both sides of the folded pork pieces.
4. Coat generously with panko.
5. Pan fry both sides until golden brown.
6. Serve the panfried pork → grated daikon radish → radish sprouts neatly on plates, and serve.
7. Eat with ponzu sauce.
