Shiso Bell Pepper Kinpira

This is an easy side dish to stock in the refrigerator that uses seasonal green bell peppers and shiso leaves. Pack it in your bento as well!

Ingredients: 3 to 4 servings

Green bell peppers

Green shiso leaves
7 to 8
Soy sauce
1 scant tablespoon
Sugar
1/2 teaspoon
Mirin
2 teaspoons
Bonito flakes
2 g
Vegetable oil
as needed

Steps

1. Remove the seeds and stem ends from the peppers and thinly slice. Julienne the shiso leaves.
2. Put a little oil in a frying pan and add the peppers.
3. Stir-fry over medium heat until it's softened and wilted. Add the soy sauce, sugar and mirin, and keep stir frying.
4. When there is almost no moisture left in the pan, turn off the heat. Add the shiso leaves and bonito flakes, mix in, and it's done.

I had a lot of shiso leaves, so I wanted to use it in a kinpira-style dish to add a refreshing flavor.
