Japanese-style Tarako Pasta using Shirataki Noodles

This is a recipe for a diet friendly menu. Using shirataki noodles instead of pasta makes an easy tarako pasta-like dish.


Shirataki Noodles
1 package
Tarako (salt cured cod or pollack roe)
Sesame oil
1 teaspoon
Soy sauce
to taste


1. Boil the shirataki noodles for 2~3 minutes to remove any astringent taste. Transfer into a sieve and drain the noodles well.
2. Place the noodles into a pan, stir until the noodles are thoroughly dried. Add sesame oil and continue to cook.
3. Add tarako and soy sauce to the pan. Cook a little longer, and you are done.

Story Behind this Recipe

Konyaku (shirataki) has no calories, so it makes for a great diet food, and is an excellent substitute for pasta.
