Beef Steak With Black Garlic Sauce

Beef Steak With Black Garlic Sauce

I made some steak with the rather peculiar "black garlic." The taste and texture was surprisingly like "Chinese black beans."

Ingredients: 2 servings

Beef steak
1 or 2 slices (300 g)
Salt, coarsely ground black pepper
a small amount of each
Butter, oil
1 tablespoon each
Black Garlic Sauce:
Black garlic
10 cloves (40 g)
1 teaspoon
100 ml
Ketchup, sake
2 tablespoons each
Honey, soy sauce
1 tablespoon each
Coarsely ground black pepper
a small amount
Side Dishes
Macaroni salad
a small amount
Baby leaves
a small amount
Snap peas boiled in salt water
a small amount

1. Lightly season one side of the steak with salt and coarsely ground black pepper.
2. Heat the oil and butter in a frying pan and cook the steak as desired.
3. Once cooked, remove from the pan.
4. Roughly chop the black garlic and thinly slice the onion.
5. Use the remaining oil from cooking the steak to saute the onion.
6. Once the onion is brown and fragrant,
7. Add the flour and continue to saute until no longer powdery and no lumps remain.
8. Add the black garlic sauce ingredients and mix. Lightly simmer for about a minute to finish.
9. Transfer to a plate and serve with your desired side dishes.

Story Behind this Recipe

I bought some black garlic, so I wanted to try it out.
